Social inbox

Comments on your posts, pulled in from every connected platform and stacked in one queue. Reply, like, or skip โ€” then it's gone.

Business

The social inbox is available on the Business and Agency plans. See plans & what's included.

Opening the inbox

Go to Social inbox in the main navigation. Tabs across the top split the queue by platform, with an All tab mixing everything together when you have two or more platforms connected. If you only have one, the All tab is skipped as pointless.

The inbox is account-wide by design: your teammates see the same queue you do, so a comment gets handled once rather than three times.

Which platforms

PlatformComments inReply from DemandBirdOne-click like

MastodonYesYesโ€”
FacebookYesYesโ€”
InstagramYesYesโ€”
Twitter / XYesโ€”โ€”
On Twitter/X you can read the comments in DemandBird but have to reply on the platform โ€” the reply endpoint isn't open to us. Likes are LinkedIn-only for the same kind of reason: it's the only platform whose permissions cover reacting to a comment somebody else wrote.

LinkedIn company pages sync comments. Comments on a personal LinkedIn profile's posts can't be pulled in, and the LinkedIn tab says so when that's all you have connected.

Reply, like, skip

ActionWhat it does
ReplyPosts your reply to the platform straight away, then clears the thread out of the inbox โ€” replying means you're done with it. Nested replies underneath go with it.
LikeOne click, LinkedIn only. Sending it again removes the like. A liked comment stays in the inbox, so you can like now and reply properly later.
SkipClears it without replying. There's an undo.
Mark engagedClears it and records that you handled it elsewhere โ€” for when you replied from the phone app.

On LinkedIn you can @mention people in a reply and the mention is sent as a real LinkedIn mention, not plain text. Saved replies are available in the reply box for the answers you type over and over.

Who the reply comes from

By default a reply goes out as whichever channel owns the post being commented on. On LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon and Twitter/X you can pick a different connected identity instead โ€” handy when a company page post deserves a reply from the founder's profile.

Facebook and Instagram always reply as the page or account that owns the post; those platforms don't allow anything else.

Working as a team

Because everyone shares one queue, two people can open the same comment. If a teammate has already replied or skipped it, DemandBird tells you who got there first instead of quietly sending a second reply. Your draft stays in the box, so you can still send it after reading that โ€” it's a warning, not a wall.

Filters

  • Account โ€” narrow to one connected channel.
  • Group โ€” narrow to a group of channels you've set up. Groups span platforms, so this one filter applies to every tab.
  • Owner โ€” narrow to channels connected by one person.
  • Show my own comments โ€” off by default, so your own replies don't clutter the queue. The toggle only appears when you have some.

Filters stick as you move around, and are remembered per tab.

How comments arrive

DemandBird pulls comments in on a schedule in the background; there's nothing to press. Newly published posts are checked more often than older ones, since that's when conversation actually happens.

Comment threads are walked in full, so a reply to a reply shows up in the inbox nested under its parent rather than going missing.

Who can use it

The inbox needs the Use the social inbox capability, which admins and members have by default. Ghostwriters, read-only seats, and clients don't โ€” an admin on the Agency plan can grant it to a specific person through permission overrides.
