The five seats
| Seat | Who it's for |
|---|---|
| Admin | Full control. Manages billing and the plan, invites and removes people, sees every workspace. Available on every plan. |
| Member | Read and write. Creates, edits, schedules, deletes posts; connects and disconnects channels. Available on every plan. |
| Read-only | Looks, doesn't touch. Sees the queue, scheduled posts and connected channels. Good for a stakeholder who wants visibility and nothing else. |
| Ghostwriter | Drafts for someone else. Writes and edits their own posts and submits them for review, but doesn't publish and can't see other people's work. |
| Client | Reviews and approves. Lands on a dedicated approvals queue, approves or sends work back, and can't create or edit content. See What a client sees. |
What each seat can do
A role is a set of defaults, not a wall. On the Agency plan an admin can flip any individual row for one person โ see Permissions & overrides. This table is where each seat starts.

Two rows are worth reading twice. Required approver is on by default for clients only: a client's pending review actually blocks publishing, while everyone else has to be marked required per post. And see all members' posts is off for ghostwriters and clients, which is what keeps a freelancer from browsing another client's content.
Invite someone
- Open Settings โ Team MembersAdmins only. The page also explains what each role can do, and shows how many seats you've used.
- Enter their email and pick a roleMember, Admin, Client, Ghostwriter, or Read-only.
- Send the inviteThey get an email and have 7 days to accept. You can resend or revoke a pending invite from the same page.
Changing somebody's role later takes effect immediately โ open their row on the same page and pick a different seat.
A different role per client
If you run multiple workspaces, a person's role is set per workspace. The same contractor can be a ghostwriter on one client, read-only on another, and absent from a third entirely.
The roles you can assign per workspace are member, ghostwriter, client, and read-only. Admin is deliberately not one of them: being an admin is an account-level power (billing, the roster), and admins already reach every workspace.
Seat limits by plan
| Plan | Team members |
|---|---|
| Pro | Up to 20 |
| Business | Up to 50 |
| Agency | Unlimited |
Inviting teammates works on every paid plan. What Business adds is the restricted seats; what Agency adds is per-member overrides on top of them.
What only admins can do
Two powers have no override and never move: billing and managing members. That's the definition of an admin in DemandBird. Everything else in the table above is a capability that can, on the Agency plan, be granted or revoked per person.
