Ideas

A holding pen for post ideas, and the one-click path from an idea to a draft.

Ideas vs drafts vs clips

Three different things, kept apart on purpose:

  • An idea is a subject. One line: "why our onboarding survey was wrong."
  • A draft is post copy. Words you would actually publish.
  • A clip is somebody else's words, saved as raw material.

Ideas are the cheapest to create and the easiest to accumulate, which is the point. You capture the subject when you think of it, and decide later whether it becomes a post.

Where ideas come from

You add them. Type a line whenever one occurs to you.

Your content pillars produce them. Each pillar keeps a rotating set of suggested subjects, refreshed on demand.

The weekly digest emails them. See Email digest for the cadence.

Mine my week in Compose looks at what you have been doing and proposes subjects from it.

Ideas from those last three sources are suggestions, not commitments. Delete the ones that are not you.

Turning an idea into a draft

Promote to draft hands the idea to the Voice Engine, which expands it into post copy in your voice with your workspace's brand positioning applied.

It runs in the background. The row shows Drafting… and then flips to a link to the finished draft, so you can queue up several and come back. Nothing takes you out of what you were doing.

Three things can come back:

A draft. The usual case. Click through and edit it like any other draft.

A question. If the idea is too thin to write from — a subject with no angle, no detail, nothing specific to say — DemandBird asks you for what is missing instead of inventing it. This is deliberate. A confidently written post full of made-up specifics is worse than being asked a question, because you might publish it.

You can answer and retry, or choose Draft anyway and accept a vaguer post.

A failure. Retry it. If it keeps failing, tell us.

Each promotion counts as one AI draft against your monthly drafting allowance, and is charged when you click, so a refused attempt never leaves the row stuck.

Editing and deleting

Edit an idea's text any time — sharpening the line before promoting it usually gets a better draft than promoting a vague one and rewriting the output.

You can attach a reference image to an idea. Deleting an idea does not touch any draft already made from it.

Scope

Ideas belong to the account and are workspace-scoped, so a client workspace's ideas stay with that client.

Availability

Available on every plan. Promoting an idea uses your AI drafting allowance, which differs by plan.
