What is in it

Every image, video and document your account has uploaded or generated, in one place. Find it at Media library in the app.

Things land here automatically. You do not have to file anything:

The header tells you how many images, videos and documents you have and how much space they take.

Finding something

Search by filename, description or tag. Filter by type โ€” images, videos, documents โ€” and switch between a grid and a list. The list view is better when you are looking for a specific file; the grid is better when you are looking for a picture and will know it when you see it.

Results load in pages of 48 with a Load more at the bottom, so a library with a thousand assets still paints quickly.

Describing an asset

Open any asset to edit three things:

Tags. Your own labels. This is how you make a large library findable โ€” tag by campaign, client, product, or shoot.

Description. For your own searching. Not published anywhere.

Alt text. This is published, wherever the platform supports it. Worth writing: it is what a screen reader says about your image, and several platforms use it for search.

Reusing an asset

Attach an asset to a new post from the image picker in Compose. Reusing costs nothing โ€” in particular, reusing a generated image does not spend another image credit.

Deleting

Deleting an asset removes it from the library and from our storage. Posts that have already published with that image are unaffected โ€” the platform has its own copy.

A scheduled post still holding a deleted asset will fail at publish. Check what is using an asset before deleting it.

Scope

The library is per account. Every workspace's assets are in it, which is what you want when a brand asset is shared across clients, and worth knowing when it is not.

Who can do what

Any member can browse the library, upload, and attach assets to posts.

Turning on the account-wide media settings is admin only, because those settings spend money on every upload and send images to a third party โ€” not something one seat should be able to switch on for everybody.
